A day with the locals in Dublin

Don’t get me wrong – the people of Dublin are fabulous, friendly, feisty and fun.

But my goodness, can they talk. You ask for directions, and an hour later you’re still only halfway through their life story. The gab has very definitely been gifted in that fair city.

And meanwhile there’s a wonderful place out there, waiting to be explored. If only you could get away. So instead I sought out some Dubliners who are a bit on the quiet side.

Phil and the Hags, Jim, James and Molly – full of fire and passion, the lot of them. They still all have a tale or two to tell – of music and politics, shopping and literature – but at least you can always get the last word.
