Crazy hikes, cool places, free books – a National Walking Month special

It’s ‘National Walking Month’ – who knew? – which means I get to explain once again how bad I am at hiking. Stuck-up-a-mountain bad is how bad. No map, no compass, no phone signal bad – basically ALL the bad.

And to celebrate my mountainous incompetence I am giving away three signed paperback copies of my incredibly useful book ‘Takoradi to the stars (via Huddersfield)’. If you’re foolish enough ever to come on a hike with me, for example, the books will come in handy for lighting a signal fire.Takoradi to the stars (via Huddersfield)

I have written a blog post for my friends at Cool Places – the best-of-UK travel people – full of expert hiking advice that you really don’t want to follow. Click on the link there (to sign up to my newsletter mailing list) and you can be in with the chance to win.

Or simply sign up here for my mailing list (by 31 May) if you’d rather not laugh your head off for five minutes, reading all about my mountain misadventures.

Now then, where’s that path gone?
